Troopers were attempting to buy a suspected stolen chainsaw from Keith A. Hawley. Troopers had called Hawley to arrange the purchase. Hawley met with troopers and got into a state police undercover vehicle. Hawley allegedly pulled a handgun on the two undercover troopers and attempted to rob them. A fight began. One of the troopers reportedly was trying to disarm Hawley, when the other trooper shot and killed him.
