Witnesses describe the suspicious shooting of David McAtee involving Louisville Metro Police Officer Austin Allen as not making sense. What is known is that officer Allen and officer Katie Crews with unidentified members of the National Guard opened fire where they claim someone shot from. When it was over an unarmed business owner was dead. When city officials called for the public release of the body cameras it turned out they were not turned on. That led to the firing of police chief Steve Conrad.
The FBI is now investigating and officer Allen is now on paid administrative leave along with Katie Crews. One witness, Chris Smith, whose video is embedded with this article, said that about 10 seconds went by after a loud bang before they started shooting. Smith was not sure if the boom was a firework or a gun.
