Raleigh Police Officer Athena Gokey was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) on Friday near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Argyle Drive. The arrest was made by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. According to a statement released by RPD spokeswoman Laura Hourigan, Gokey has been with the department since 2017 and was assigned to the Raleigh Police Field Operations Division at the time of her arrest. Hourigan ducked a question when asked if Gokey was facing discipline for the arrest. Normally police are quick to place staff members on paid leave and inform the press of that.
According to public records, Athena Shenelle Gokey is a 28 year old resident of Raleigh with two prior traffic citations.
