Chesapeake Police Lt. Sean Maddox was arrested yesterday on one count of rape, two counts of forcible sodomy, one count of abduction with intent to defile, two counts of stalking, and two counts of threatening bodily harm. Detectives are not releasing specifics beyond the fact that they first received a complaint that Maddox was involved in criminal activity earlier this year and began an investigation. The investigation resulted in probably cause to arrest Maddox for conduct that took place on April 27th, May 3rd, May 11th, and May 12th. Police have not said which acts took place which days, but did say that the threat charges were for threatening the victim of the abduction, rape, and sodomy.
Police have not said how many victims there are, how old they are, or what gender they are, but based on the charges we can speculate. The fact that he is not charged with any sex crimes involving minors rules out the possibility of this being a child molestation case. If he had raped a child he would also be charged with engaging in sexual acts with a minor. We believe that Maddox is married, but he is not charged with any domestic violence crimes, so if the victim is his wife then they are recently separated. The last possibilities are that the victim was either an acquaintance of his or a complete stranger. The fact that he threatened the victim on what appears to be a subsequent day likely rules out the possibility of the victim being a stranger because had it been a stranger he probably would not have known where to stalk or threaten the victim. Had the victim been a stranger and he used the police database to stalk him or her then he would likely be charged with abusing the police database. For the aforementioned reasons we believe the victim to be an acquaintance of his, but still have no clue as to the victim's gender.
According to public records, Sean Michael Maddox is a 41 year old resident of Chesapeake, Virginia last known to reside at 277 Bridgeview Circle. We are making that address publicly available because as a first time offender whose been gainfully employed as a Chesapeake Police officer since 2008 we believe that he will likely make bail, so we want to warn women and possibly men of a predator in that area. According to that information, Maddox is white male standing 5' 8'' and weighing in at 145 lbs. He has been assigned the subject number 20429 and his case has been assigned bond number 2021-00003568.
UPDATE: We have changed the video below to a more recent story now that the mainstream media is reporting more information. It seems that our suspicions were not far off. He was having an affair with a woman who told him she wanted to end things and see other people on April 10th. On May 3rd he texted her saying "you have no idea how hard I try to control myself and not do bad things" and then said that hurting her was still an option. We are still waiting to hear more as to exactly what transpired after that which resulted in rape, sodomy, and abduction with intent to defile charges.
