Tyron Andrepont, a police officer with the Opelousas Police Department in Opelousas, Louisiana has been arrested and charged with five counts of Malfeasance in Office for beating a black teen in a hospital last year. Jonah Coleman was 17 when his parents checked him into Opelousas General Hospital for treatment. Coleman was not in police custody and did nothing wrong. According to the news the incident was caught on camera, but we have not been able to locate footage of the incident.
According to media reports, Tyron Andrepont has a lengthy record of misconduct on the job. He was suspended in 2006 for "offensive conduct." He was disciplined in 2009 for unauthorized use of force. He was accused of excessive force while arresting a minister in 2010. In 2011 he was suspended for violating the department's tobacco policey. In 2015 he received a four day suspension for conduct unbecoming. In 2019 he was reprimanded for inappropriate behavior described as not being courteous.
