Polson Police Officer Matthew Timm was booked into the Lake County Detention Facility yesterday for sexual abuse of children according to the Polson Police Department and multiple media outlets. The PPD says, "The investigation is ongoing so no further information will be released at this time." Timm is currently listed as a 40 year old inmate on the jail website but his exact charge is not listed.
The PPD says they've been cooperating with the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Montana Department of Justice. PPD release the following boilerplate statement typical of law enforcement agencies whose members have been busted abusing the public:
"Our fundamental duty as officers is to serve mankind, safeguard lives and property, to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder. This is the mission, and we all took the oath dedicating ourselves to justice and honor. Officers who are found not honoring the oath have no place in this department." - Chief George Simpson
UPDATE: NBC Montana released a brief video which we've embedded below.
