Last Known Crime Scene Address:

Kyle Rittenhouse, the armed man that shot and killed a protester in Kenosha, Wisconsin last night acted in self defense according to video footage of the incident. In the video below you can see a man with a rifle running away from a group of people, one of those people throws something at him, the chase continues and only after the man catches up with him does he open fire. People are already trying to spin this on social media to make it look like the chase was in response to the second shooting, but that is not the case. That footage was immediately followed by this footage (https://twitter.com/DailyCaller/status/1298488431358758912) where you can see the foot chase down the street towards where the second shooting took place, that chase continued as people yelled "get him" and "he just shot someone" until it appears that one of his pursuers knocked him down at which point he started shooting wildly at anyone he perceived as a threat (https://twitter.com/BGOnTheScene/status/1298502384654651392).

We do not know much about Rittenhouse, but from social medial he looks like a wannabe cop and a Blue Lives Matter supporter. The Antifa and Black Lives Matter crowd will want to think that their guy died a hero fighting white supremacy, so they are likely to portray the shooter as a white supremacist militiaman that went there looking for an excuse to shoot black people. That could be the case. We know nothing about his views beyond the obvious fact that he likes the police. We do know that he was seen with a group of militia earlier in the evening and that group said that they were there to defend private property (https://www.facebook.com/229855298387888/videos/636700277255679). The Antifa/BLM crowd were clearly not happy to see them. The deceased was seen arguing with the militia at times. We do not know how things escalated into people chasing Rittenhouse. Whatever inspired the chase does not appear relevant at this point. The shooter was clearly defending himself.

Was the second shooting justified? We believe that it was because someone tried to hit him with a skateboard. In his shoes he had every reason to think that the crowd would try to kill him because he was outnumbered and someone tried to hit him with a weapon. There will be those that say he was shooting indiscriminately at anyone near him when he fell on the ground, but in a situation like that you can't be too careful when people are trying to smash your head in. We don't think he had time to figure out who was who and select his targets accordingly. This is not like when Jeremy Christian killed Ricky Best in Portland, Oregon because he felt threatened after another man shoved him to the ground repeatedly. Christian had no reason to think anyone was trying to seriously injure him, but Rittenhouse did. Christian also never attempted to retreat, but Rittenhouse was running away as fast as he could and only when he could not escape did he start shooting.

We did not know he was a wannabe cop until after writing this article. He looks like a puny little dude and that rifle literally saved him for a world of hurt. We don't support people showing up to back the police, but after already going out to figure out he was defending himself thinking he might be some shopkeeper or something we can't reverse ourselves just because he backs the blue.

UPDATE: The shooter is believed to be a man named Kyle Rittenhouse. In this video he says "I'm Kyle by the way." https://twitter.com/tariqnasheed/status/1298548721152491521 It turns out he is one of those Blue Lives Matter people. We did not know that until just now.

UPDATE: This article has been re-written after the video below made it clear that what was thrown at Rittenhouse was not a Molotov cocktail as originally believed. Turns out is was shiny and the light caught the shiny object at the right angle to look like fire from a distance.

UPDATE: According to Tariq Nasheed, he gave the cops a special hand signal when they arrived and that is why he was not arrested https://twitter.com/tariqnasheed/status/1298556876804612096 so we are not sure exactly how to categorize him at this time.

UPDATE: Kyle Rittenhouse has been charged with murder, but the basis for this charge is not clear. The videos clearly show that he was defending himself. On top of all the video, he was just 17 years old. This kid obviously grew up idolizing cops and before he lived long enough to know better tried to be one. We do not support blue backers, but we don't support charging people with crimes they did not commit just to appease the public either.

UPDATE: Following his arrest, Rittenhouse's lawyer issued a statement:

"This young boy was not only attacked on the streets of Kenosha, hes been attacked in the media and social media all over the damn world," L. Lin Wood told CBS News." It's wrong. He's a 17-year-old boy. He was not there to create trouble, but he found himself with his life threatened and he had the right to protect himself with self defense and now he finds himself accused of murder." https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/08/27/criminal-complaint-against-kyle-rittenhouse-details-prosecutors-version-of-events-in-kenosha-shooting-that-killed-2-wounded-1/

Rittenhouse will likely get some sort of criminal conviction but it should be for firearm possession or illegal transportation of a firearm across state lines or whatever, but he should not be convicted of murder or even a homicide. Self defense is a completely legitimate legal defense here.

Ater review given here, it is now clear that:

1. Rittenhouse was trying to evade Rosenbaum.

2. Rosenbaum appeared to be anxious for physical conflict and selected Rittenhouse as his target.

3. Rosenbaum was pursuing and throwing objects at Rittenhouse who DID NOT fire until he was physically contacted by Rosenbaum (not to make nice with him obviously).

Conclusions:

1.) Terrible situation but no doubt self defense.

2.) Rosenbaum was a fool.

3.) AR-15 is better close quarters weapon than I would have thought.

4.) Rittenhouse was not a homicidal maniac and only shot those who were a direct threat to him.

5.) People better wake up to the fact that protesting is OK but anarchy and rioting will lead to death and mayhem.

This thread explains this really well and supports the same conclusions we made https://twitter.com/trbrtc/status/1298840777251008512

LoriLynn3 - The video you linked to supports the self defense argument. You can clearly see Rittenhouse being chased by a sex offender named Joseph Rosenbaum, Rosenbaum caught up with him after throwing something, and only when Rosenbaum closed within a few feet did Rittenhouse open fire.

That is text book self defense. He was being attacked, tried to flee, and only used force as a last resort to avoid being beaten. When someone forces you to choose between taking a beating and using deadly force, you have the right to use deadly force.

LoriLynn3 Says:

This is the video I saw. To me it looks like the shooter opened fire unprovoked on the protesters. He shot one person in the head. He ran toward the person recording the event. You could hear him say I shot someone. Then you see him being chased by protesters. They caught up with him beat his ass a bit. Then he walked toward the police with his hands up in the air and his rifle slung around his neck they let him pass. No arrest.

He was finally arrested the next day at his home in Antioch Illinois.

Where is being held at lake county lockup pending extradition to Wisconsin.

Also as a little FYI Wisconsin will try him as an adult at 17 years old.

Being minor illegally in possession of a firearm that was unlawfully transported across state lines is irrelevant to Rittenhouse's self defense claim. It is the basis for other charges related to that conduct, but one cannot defeat a self defense argument by saying that the weapon used for that defense was unlawfully possessed.

ACMT - This is NOT and never will be a bootlicking outlet. We began looking for video last night not knowing who the shooter was, we found three videos showing that the chronology supports the video analysis in the embedded video. Rittinghouse was seen being chased to a car dealership by at least one person, that person threw something as he caught up to him, and it wasn't until he was a couple feet away from Rittinghouse that he opened fire.

Then Rittinghouse was chased down the street where the second shooting took place, he was trying to run away while a crowd followed saying "get him," then he tripped and was attacked on the ground. One of the attackers tried to hit him with a skateboard. Then he fired at all perceived threats. That is textbook self defense.

ACMT Says:

Jesus are you really standing by the "the chase happened first, actually" narrative? It's been summarily disproven by video evidence and numerous witness accounts. The fight in the street happens AFTER he murders a man for vandalizing a car.

When did this become some bootlicking propaganda outlet? No ones going to even drop an edit or update? Dude possessed the rifle illegally, was out past curfew after having transported it across state lines, cosplayed as a fucking cop while receiving the praise and blessing of riot cops, he MURDERS a dude over property damage (property that didn't even BELONG to the murderer, by the way), shoots MORE people while attempting to evade apprehension for the initial murder, escapes with the cops assistance, and you fuckwits are DEFENDING him? Insane

Rittenhouse is 17 years old. It is illegal in Illinois for a minor to possess a firearm. He illegally transported said firearm across a state line to Wisconsin (a federal crime). It is illegal for a minor to possess a firearm in Wisconsin. He was illegally present after the curfew. He had no right to be there, and his carrying the AR-15 was a felony. He interacted with Kenosha PD, who failed to ask for his ID, failed to ask his name, age of where he was from, or what he was doing carrying around an AR-15. The cops gave him two bottle of water, minutes later two people are dead. Kenosah PD will be paying millions to the families of the dead.

hottyson Says:

Why are people still calling these protests when they are actually riots?

.

The biggest takeaway is actually, don't riot unless you are bulletproof. Second, don't go out at night because that is when violence erupts and you might have to shoot someone to save your own life.

rickisonline Says:

This story has a great narrative but it excludes the FACT that the kid was fleeing from a crime scene, after just shooting someone. Thus, ZERO self defense. Just a continuation of a murdering spree while citizens attempted to detain him.

Kyle has obvious issues with protestors and was there to kill them. He succeeded with his planned murder and walked away unscathed and uncharged using a pre-arranged hand signal to let cops he is a fellow fascist piece of shit.

Windowlicker Says:

All the criminal history posted is not him. This guy is a 17 year old kid from IL

Damn... I was googling the situation and came across this page. I was fully prepared to disagree with what I read, but it was unbiased and the video analysis helped me realize that. Thanks.

Biggest takeaway is definitely that guns have no place at protests... if I was in his position (i.e. being chased by people trying to harm me) then I would've been shooting too... whether he was right or wrong before the chase happened is irrelevant, kid was scared.

All this is just to say that these shootings do not appear racially motivated at all.
